Overcoming Life’s Challenges

Sometimes, life doesn’t go the way you plan or expect. Shocker, I know!

Usually I refer to this as Life’s Little Sucker Punch.

You’re going along, everything looks good, you think you can relax. And then BAM! Life’s like, you were getting a little too cocky Jes. You’ve still got a lot of work to do!

As much as I hate the experience of this phenomena in the moment, I’m kind of OK with it.

You see, when you are taken off guard like that, you learn. You learn to pay attention, and to be prepared in the future.

And more importantly, you learn how to Overcome.

No matter what you try to accomplish, you are going to face obstacles. You are going to make mistakes. And you are going to fail; at least temporarily.

This is just one of life’s constants, and so you better learn to work with it.

OF course, it absolutely sucks when you think you’ve got it, and then you find out it was all a mirage. I’m not saying it doesn’t, and you are totally free to be upset and express how you feel.

But then you have to find a way to move forward.

Usually, when life catches you like that, then end goals don’t change; just the variables.

So you pick yourself up, and start over.

Whatever it is, you need to find a way to start moving forward again, even if it’s just one step at a time. And the only way to do that is focus on what you can control.

You wanted that promotion at work and someone else got it? Ok, so what did they have that you didn’t? Find out, and work on it.

You wanted to get married and your S.O. had other ideas? Ok, what was missing from the relationship? That’s now on the list, so get back out there.

As you move forward, you learn to focus on what you can do to make the situation better, and let go of what you are not able to play a part in. You learn to Trust that if you do your best, things will work out however they are supposed to.

Remember, if it is meant to be, it will be.
